Well it has been a LONG time, but I am here to post tons of pictures. I have been back at school now for about a month and it has been an adjustment seeing how I was off for 5 months. Colbie is growing like a weed and Layne is getting more and more crazy every day. We had a great summer of going to the park, gymnastics, The Children's Museum, and just having fun around the house. Here are some pics of it all...

A couple of weeks ago Jason and I left Colbie with my parents and took Layne to the Children's Museum in Indy. She loved it, but not as much as her dad I don't think.

COLBIE MAE

Colbie is not near the tiny little baby that Layne was. She is in about the 50th percentile for weight and 90th for height. Layne never made it past the 5th percentile for weight until just recently. It is amazing she is 5 months already. Check out what a big girl she is.

LAYNE ADDISON

To say Layne is crazy is an understatement. She has her moments of being totally rotten, but she also can be hilarious. Here are some of her crazy moments....

Grandma bought her some shoes that she won't take off.

Layne always puts something over her lip and says "Hi, I'm Poppy" because my dad (Poppy) has a mustache.

GYMNASTICS

This summer a friend of mine asked if anyone wanted to join her and her son at gymnastics and I thought why not. Layne LOVES going and we just started the fall session. Here she is in action...

PURDUE PETE FINDS HIS HAMMER

Layne has the book Purdue Pete Finds His Hammer and I thought we should go over to Purdue and find the places that are in the book. We had a lot of fun going to the fountains, the clock tower, and eating at Pappy's. Layne, of course, loved playing in the fountain.

Hopefully it won't take me as long to keep this blog up next time. :)

Colbie Mae Carter....and other pictures

Well I am long over due for a post on here so here it goes. Colbie was born on April 2nd and weighed in at 8lb 4oz. That was almost 2 pounds more than Layne was. As you can tell by this first picture she looked huge! Ha! She was quite swollen in this first picture because she doesn't look that way any more. We went for her 2 week check up and she is in the 50th percentile for weight and 95th for length. We could tell she was super long because she is already outgrowing her newborn clothes. That is far different from her big sister because Layne wore newborn clothes for a long time. Even now she's still in 18 month close at 26 moths. At Layne's check up today we found out she's under the 10th percentile for weight and 75th for height. Our long and lean girls! Here are some pictures from the birth of Colbie until now. Enjoy!

So our little girl is somehow 2 years old now. Time sure is flying by, but getting more and more fun. I have been slacking off on this blogspot, but hopefully I can get back to it more often.

In other news we only have about 7 weeks until the next little Carter baby arrives. We are all excited to see her and see if she looks like Layne or not. Of course we'll post lots of pics when she gets here.

It has been a long time since I have posted any pictures, so here are quite a few from the past month or so.

And more again...we thought we were funny where we helped her put them.

Tonight Layne had her first program at daycare. It was a Thanksgiving program and her 1 and 2 year old class "sang" a song. Layne was the only one dancing in her group. The pastor thanked her personally for dancing so well when their group was done. The pics aren't great, but it's all I could get.

Fall is finally here! This is my favorite time for sure. This morning we decided to take Layne to a local pumpkin patch. She loved running around everywhere and playing with everything. Here are some pictures from our trip.

In other news, Layne had her 18 month check up last week and she is still just a little tiny girl. Still at 20lbs and she's only in the 5% for her weight. What a peanut!

She only lasted in the wagon for a few minutes, then it was time to run.

I, of course, had to get on the bike first thing. :)

Our friends Heather and Joe went away for the weekend and asked us to watch their son, Maddox. He is 2 weeks older than Layne. He was a very good and sweet little boy. He and Layne "played" well together for the most part...she pretty much wanted everything he had and he pretty much let her take it. Here are some pics from the weekend.

We have officially learned how to throw a fit. Stupid us thought we had several more months before this set in, but we were wrong. I believe this fit is because she wanted a cookie and I said no. Some of it is dark, but you get the idea.

Layne and I have continued to have fun on our summer break. We have been going swimming at home and at Granny Cat and Poppy's, playing in the new playhouse, and going to story time at the library (we dont have any pictures of that yet though). Here are a few new ones...

This past weekend was the Mulberry Festival and there are vendors there selling items. Well, when we went to pick up Layne at my mom and dads tonight she was in this tutu. I am not much of the tutu type of girl, but I must admit it was pretty cute. She didn't mind the headband or the outfit. I didn't get a picture, but the best was when she would bend over to pick up something....all you could see was a big white diaper under her beautiful tutu.

She loves to play with baby bottles...sometimes she will share with the baby doll.

Well Mom is officially on summer break and couldn't be more excited! It will be a fun summer to watch Layne grow and learn. It is amazing how many words she says and how many new things she can do. I will do a better job of keeping up with this blogspot now that I am home more. Here are some pictures of eating, soggy diapers, playing, and bad hair cuts...and this is only the 2nd day of summer break!

Well it has been far too long, but Layne has been keeping us busy lately. I guess too busy to post anything. She has now started walking and she talks all the time. She'll tell you want she wants and she also just loves to point at things and say what they are. She is beginning to put two words together like "hi daddy" and she can say some big ones like "butterfly" too. We had a nice Mother's Day today and she is the best Mother's Day gift anyone could ask for!

Layne has gone to a new babysitter this week (her normal sitter is on vacation) and each day I go to pick her up the sitter has done Layne's hair. I must say she is WAY better than I am at it. Maybe she should be our regular sitter just so Layne can have cute hair. Also, there are some pics of Layne in an outfit from Uncle Joel and Aunt Cristi. She's a stylin' baby!

1 Year Old

Well somehow it has been 1 year already. It really doesn't seem possible, but what fun it has been. As the days go on Layne is learning more and more things and is now learning how to be funny. It is quite amazing how much a child changes in that first year. What they learn and how quickly they grow is just neat to watch. At Layne's 1 year check up she weighed 18 lbs and 2 oz. She's only in the 8% for her weight and she's 29 1/2 inches which puts her in the 50% for height. She is just a little peanut and she makes Jason and I so happy. We are extremely blessed to have such a sweet little girl.

We decided it was time to take Layne to get a hair cut. That mullet thing she had going on in the back was getting out of control. They didn't do too much, but trimmed it up a bit. We went to a children's hair place which made it fun for her. She didn't cry or seem worried at all.

We are just weeks away from Layne's 1st birthday (how can that be?!?) and she is so much fun these days. She is being a little stubborn when it comes to standing alone, but she can do it. If she is watching tv or looking at something else she'll do it without even knowing it.

Layne just experienced her 1st Super Bowl, and even though the Colts lost she had a good time.

I posted a video of Layne beginning to crawl a couple of weeks ago, but here is a more updated one of her on the move.

Tonight Layne relaxed with me on the couch for at least an hour. She just laid there and talked and giggled and we had a good time. She is such a sweet baby and although she knows how to crawl (and loves to do it) she will still let you cuddle her and Jason and I LOVE it.

The Carter house is a whole new place now that we have a crawling baby. She wants to go everywhere and get into everything. She loves to take everything off of her shelves in her room. She has also started pulling up on anything she can get to. It is a whole new ball game now, but it's pretty fun to see her grow and learn new things.

I know it has been way too long since we last posted anything and I wanted to let you know that I will be adding some new stuff soon. Layne is changing everyday...the top 2 teeth are almost in, she crawls backwards, can sit up from a crawling position, and loves to yell and say dadadada all the time. (Occasionally I'll get a mama out of her, but not as often as the dada's. )

Believe it or not, she's 6 months already! My how time flies!! As you can see, it is just about time for trim. Her hair is too long in the front to brush it down, it has to be brushed to the side. She's getting bigger by the second!

On a side note, Layne started with the babysitter this week. From what the sitter says, Layne likes to watch the other kids and has been doing a good job.

Granny Cat and Poppy bought Layne a Bumbo seat the other night and she LOVES it. She really loves to look around and see what is going on. She also is starting to sit a little bit on her own, but this chair is really great!

We got these clothes for Layne the day after we found out she was a girl. They have been hanging in the closet for about 10 months and mommy was itching to get them on Layne. Good thing it was a little bit cool the past few days and she could wear them! Also, you'll see that she is really into looking at her hands now. Layne went swimming today in Granny Cat and Poppy's pool. She loved it! Her little legs were kicking when she was in her raft. I'm sure there will be some more swimming pictures in the next couple of weeks!

This past weekend we went to Peoria to have Layne baptized. It was a really nice ceremony and we take comfort in knowing she has had this done. We are thankful for all the family that were able to witness this event.
